Did you know that Zeus was a Titan? He was the son of Cronus, who was the leader of the Titans. According to mythology, Cronus was told a prophecy that he would be overthrown by his sons.

Of course, the logical thing to do in this instance was to swallow his children. However, Rhea hid Zeus and gave Cronus a stone to swallow in his place. Does anyone else find it strange that Cronus did not know the difference between a child and a stone?

Despite the strangeness of this story, Titans are powerful creatures in both mythology and Iron Throne. Once Zeus grew up, he gave his father mead mixed with poison. This caused Cronus to throw up everything, including Zeus’ siblings, and together they overthrew Cronus.

Over the past few months, we have been exploring the basics of Titans in Iron Throne. Today, we are going to go more in-depth and discuss how to effectively use Titans in battles so you too can overthrow your opponents.

The Phases of Battle

What happens when Titans attack? The phases of battle have shifted, and the current battle order looks a little different than it did in the past. In general, this is what your battle order will look like now:

Hero Face Off –> Titans battle –> Troops battle

First, your Hero face-off battle occurs. During this battle buffs from face-off, stats are determined. While the buffs are determined before your Titan battle, the buffs gained from your Heo face-off are troop exclusive and do not impact the Titan battle.

Next, your Titan battle occurs. You can find the information about the Titan battle in the report just below the troop details area. Titan details will tell you:

  1. Amount of Damage dealt by your Titan
  2. The number of stars of each Titan
  3. The Durability left
  4. Titan Stats
  5. Information about the Critical Hit and Charge Attack

After the Titan attack, your regular troops’ battle occurs.

When Does Your Titan Become Useful?

With Titans becoming an essential part of the battle, one question you may find yourself asking is, when do Titans become useful? Knowing when Titans become helpful will help you decide when to switch to using them in your battles ahead.

Currently, around level four is where players start seeing a significant difference. While your Titans can help at lower levels, you will notice the most significant difference at level four and beyond.

Titans vs. Dragons

With the Titans coming into play, when should you use your Titan, and when should you begin using your Dragon? Currently, at four stars or less, your Dragon is going to be better than your Titan.

When you are trying to decide between your Titan and your Dragon, there are a couple of guidelines you can use:

  1. Prior to your Titan being 4 Stars- Use your Dragon
  2. If you have a 4 Star Titan- Use your Dragon first, when you run out of Dragon uses, switch to your Titan
  3. If you have a 4 Star Titan and all your Titan research is completed, your 4 Star Titan will be slightly better than your Dragon. However, if you use a Hero with Dragon Traits and Runes such as Vlad, the advantage can be negated. The decision on which to use should be based on that.
  4. However, after you surpass 4 Stars, your Titan will be better than your Dragon.

When deciding whether to use your Titan or Dragon, keep all of these factors in mind. If you are still unsure, test it. Sometimes it can be fun to hit with your Dragon and then your Titan and see which makes the most significant impact on different accounts.

All About Durability

Durability is a word you will often hear when talking about Titans. In order for your Titan to be able to battle, your Durability needs to stay above 10 percent. Once your durability dip below durability, your Titan can no longer fight.

If you send your Titan into battle, you can send it with only a few troops; however, if the person you are battling against has way more troops, your durability will drop faster. Repairs can quickly become costly, so make sure you are sending a full march with your Titan.

To “heal” your Titan, you must use resources and speed-ups. If you are constantly healing your Titan, the cost will quickly rise. So it is essential to help your Titan stay alive as long as possible. As we discuss stats and skilling more, we will look a little closer at durability and how to keep your Titan from taking too much damage. However, don’t forget that your Forgotten Temple will decrease the repair speed costs.

Titan Stats

When looking at Titan stats, you are going to get them from a variety of sources. Your Titan stats will come from your:

  1. Traits
  2. Moonstones
  3. Level Up
  4. Research

One important thing to consider is what stats to focus on if you are limited in points for traits or need to be careful with how many resources you have for research. Your focus is going to be different based on the type of battle you are engaging in. However, here are the basic things you should know:

  1. In solo attacks, your Titan Stats are the most important
  2. In rally attacks, your Troop stats play a more significant role
  3. However, there is a point where debuffing HP and Defense are of the utmost importance

HP and Defense are vital stats when it comes to battle outcomes with your Titan. They are also important when it comes to the Durability of your Titan.

When two Titans go into battle, the amount of defense and HP, your Titan has is reduced. If your defense and HP are reduced to the point that your Titan’s defense and HP are zeroed out, the remaining damage goes to your troops.

Therefore, increasing your Titan’s defense and HP will help to reduce the amount of damage from your enemies Titan.

Skilling

When you are looking at skill trees, you are going to have your tree that helps to strengthen your Titan and the tree that strengthens your troops. While theoretically, you could split your points between both trees, it is not as effective to do that as it is to target the stats you need.

As discussed above, that will be partially dependent on your style of attack and partially on ensuring your Titans stats when in battle and considering the importance of HP and defense.

However, there are two other stats that we have not discussed as much that are essential when it comes to battle.

Two important attack stats for your Titan are Titan Critical Hit Chance and Titan Critical Hit Damage. Critical Hit Chance will increase the chance of your Titan dealing more damage. While Critical Hit Damage will increase the amount of damage your Titan deals on a critical hit when attacking.

When it comes to defense, your defense Titan will also have stats that mirror that of your attack stats. These stats are Titan Guard Chance and Titan Guard Damage Taken. Titan Guard Chance is the flip of Titan Critical Hit Chance. While Titan Guard Damage Taken decreases the amount of damage that your Titan will take when the Titan is assigned to the guard position.

In, addition when skilling your Titan be mindful of the fact that some stats in the Troop tree are specific to playstyle. In that, they will say that they are for when attacking or when defending. If you are using Troop stats, be sure to skill specifically for the guard and attack positions.
