Iron Throne’s second Tournament has finally come to an end, and after two weeks of fierce battles, we have a winner!

The Tournament began with the top five alliances from every kingdom. Quickly, alliances that were not up to par were eliminated, with players staying up many late nights and waking up for as many early mornings to battle it out. While some Alliances breezed their way to the semi-finals, some found the competition to be a little more serious.

The Path to Victory

The road to victory is often paved with obstacles. Many alliances entered, but only one overcame all obstacles to reign victorious. Teams were divided into eight groups. In order to make it to Round 5 and have a chance at the semi-finals, it was necessary to progress through your group.

Before the quarterfinals, Iron Throne Elite’s very own Chris100 released his own predictions on how things would play out. Relive the suspense in his video:

Round 4

Group A

Group A contained the winners from our last Tournament. Sex, who blew through their first four rounds with ease and confidence this time around!

Group B

Group B saw the alliance GHT from Kingdom 1 fly through, with only a slight hiccup when going against TBD from Kingdom 17.

Group C

In Group C, the Alliance BDU, also from K25, blew through the competition with no issues.

Group D

Group D had the well known WAL from K1, and these guys once again lived up to their name, stone-WAL-ling the other alliances all the way through round 4.

Group E

Group E had BxS from K1, and they outfought the competition with no problems!

Group F

Group F had a K11 Alliance, PSY, push their way through Round 4 for their chance to battle their way into the semifinals.

Group G

Group G had some formidable foes in the form of The from K13. This alliance pushed through to round 5 with absolutely no problem!

Group H

Group H included the well-known Alliance ONE, who pushed their way to round 5 without a hiccup.

Round 5

This is where things began getting a little tough. Sex faced off against GHT with no problem and pushed their ways to the semi-finals yet again! WAL once again stone-WAL-led their way into the semi-finals for their chance to face off against Sex.

BxS beat out Psy for their spot in the Semi-finals, and tough-as-nails The beat out the well-known ONE alliance for their chance to fight their way to the final round.

The Semi-Finals

The semi-finals promised to be nail-biters with these alliances!

Semi-Finalist Quotes

We once again took time to get quotes from our semi-finalists before the start of the rounds so we could hear their thoughts going in!

(WAL) WeAreLegends Thank you to BurritoBoy from WAL in his help with getting a quote. He was fun to talk with, but now I want Mexican food!

Hi! My name is BurritoBoy! The loving baby soldier of WAL. I am currently at 597m power no t6 yet LMAO. I personally like this season’s tournament more because I didn’t get sidelined as much (for reasons I am very sad about). Let me just also add, being an f2p player and having to spend gold on buffs hurts like hell.

WAL didn’t really have a solid roster coming into the tournament. Although we still have big castles like our Prestige and our battle-scarred leader Aytaralp, it wasn’t like before anymore. People that I cheered on from the sidelines weren’t really there anymore. Most of our comrades left and some accounts were passed on to the moderate spenders club which made a huge crack to the foundations of WAL. Which means the small guys needed to step up to fill in the cracks.

Luckily, the new meta of the tournament is quite good for us small players. It obliges us to be more efficient and strategic. Compared to the old meta where it was very dependent on reinforcing the big castles, this meta is a totally different one or at least not as one dimensional. With Aytaralp and the other veterans in our alliance leading the way, WAL breezed through rounds 1 to 5 to get a ticket to the semis where we will be facing SEX in a few hours. Bless our souls.

I wanna get my hopes up and think that we can get through SEX, but they will eat us alive. I don’t really care about the tournament that much… A bigger problem is at hand. Our kingdom hasn’t been ruled in more than a month. I believe our run in the tournament might end here and the era that is WAL might also end here.

BurritoBoy

(Sex) Sext Thank you to Mine for his time in giving us a quote. Mine, for those of you who are not aware, is the third R5 in the alliance Sex. We have heard a little more from Jade and Boots thus far, so it was good to hear from him as well!

Coming into the semi finals there is no doubt some stiff competition ahead. We have relied heavily on our team dynamic as well as our amazing strategists to bring us this far. While keeping our competitive edge has been important, we cannot have achieved success without a team foundation. We look forward to facing off again with the great competitors and hope to showcase our potential once more. Congrats to the other semifinalists and good luck!

Mine

(The) Southboy We took a quick quote from The Bake for this one. Ever the verbose guy, his quote was simple and so very true!

“Team Work makes the Dream Work.”

The Bake

(BxS) BloodOathSyn Our quote from BxS came from Yeshua. Anyone that has seen him around the line rooms knows he is a fun guy with quite the sense of humor. Short and sweet, we were not quite sure how to take this one. However, we do know he was confident his team would make it through to the finals.

“I am just looking forward to two rounds of Sex.”

Yeshua

The Finals

The Finals came around, and we are down to two teams! Our defending champions Sex were set to face off against BxS from K1. This would be a nail-biter; with Sex already having proven themselves and BxS’s years of playing games together, it was anyone’s match.

The Champions

The final face off came around and BxS beat out our reigning champs Sex! This team had to work together and be on top of their game in order to win over these tough opponents! We here at the Elite would like to send them our congratulations for their impressive win! We also took some time to talk to Yeshua again from BxS to see how exactly those two rounds of Sex went! We have all the info you want to know about the latest tournament winners.

What were your thoughts going into the tournament? I guess I really didn’t think about. I just thought we probably had a good chance of winning. We had already destroyed WAL in our Kingdom. The main competitors I thought would be Ctesse and Mobius.

Did you expect to win? I think I expected that we would definitely get to the finals or at least not place any worse then we had last time. In the time between the last two tournaments we basically had a couple of our members really blow up and now we are basically at 7 people over 10 billion which is just really tough to beat.

What worked the best for you guys? We just smash people. We’re smart but we’re smart on the fly. We have a unique ability at BxS that we have all been gaming long enough that we know how to implement stuff on the fly and adjust that’s what makes us a really good team. We all really work well together, we don’t usually argue and we just say it how it is and execute and that really helps us.

Did you have any frustrations concerning how people were talking about the different alliances in the finals? Honestly, I don’t pay attention to people talking. I just kind of joke around and post every time we win in the Elite forums and watch people get crazy. There are so many trolls and people who talk crap, I wouldn’t have any hair left if I listened to them.

What are some tips you would give to players when playing Alliance Deathmatch? I don’t really know, we’re all so big that if I gave you my own set of tips you wouldn’t be able to implement them if you were a smaller player. I mean at the end of the day you just have to learn how to teleport away from someone who is bigger then you. That’s like tip number one if you can teleport before they get three marches on you then you got a win because you are wasting their teleport and escaping certain death. So my best advice is just teleport.

What were your reactions when you won? I think I just realized that we have a really solid team. We really work well together and now we finally started to get on comms and the mic and we’re just really good. We all have experience on the mic and on the comms and now that we finally have that, it’s going to be really hard to beat us moving forward.

We all want to know your strategy and how you won? What are you willing to share? You know how we won we have good leadership and we work well together, that’s it and we’re willing to put the work in to grow our accounts. You’re not going beat us with 2 billion castles we got guys that are over 10 billion and a big handful of them, but we’ve grown organically from the 1 to 2 billion guys. So for all you guys that are out there and are 1 to 2 billion just keep up the hustle man. You know because you’re going to grow eventually. What happens is you hit this 5 billion mark and you break through and get to 12 billion. A lot of the other alliances are under developed give them another month or two and we are going to have some serious competition.

Do you have anything to say to any of the opponents you faced off against? You guys gave me a great two rounds of Sex.

If you could change one thing about the tournament, what would it be? I wouldn’t change it. I love the new rules; it makes it a little more dynamic. You have to act quickly when you get your buffs. I think it is right and I wouldn’t change it at all right now.

What was it like returning to your Kingdom chat as Champions? I don’t know, it was more just cool the 8 or 9 of us that were in TDM we just realized how amazing we were and how close we were. I didn’t look at Kingdom Chat but apparently they were happy we won. We did take the capital afterwards which was fun, we’re finally going to come invade your kingdom so be ready

Any other thoughts you would be willing to share? Just keep up the hard fight. This is a game of patience, it’s a long game. It’s not too long ago that we were the underdogs. We were in a kingdom that merged entirely against us, they were double our power, we played the long game, spent on the packs that were worth it, got as much silver as we were able to find and we just worked our way from the bottom to the top. Right now we are 150 billion power and we destroyed WAL and DRG who are now both about 50 bill we are dominating not only in K1 but the game. Come get us!

Thanks so much to Yeshua for his time spent answering these questions! I know he had me laughing as I tried to keep up with him! Congratulations again to BxS, and we are all looking forward to seeing what happens in coming tournaments!
