Gear is a huge part of Iron Throne. With the abundance of Heroes available to us, building our Gear up can sometimes become slightly overwhelming and costly. However, do not despair my friends! There are ways to be able to build up your gear without breaking the bank!

Today we will talk about how to keep your wallet heavy and your Gear on point so you can dress those heroes in style. However, before we dive into how to build up your gear let’s take a closer look at some of our past articles on gear to help give you some great knowledge on what gear is available currently.

Four Elite Tips to Build Up Your Gear Without Emptying Your Bank Account

There is a lot of Gear in Iron Throne and that can very quickly lead to an empty bank account. We all want to have fun playing and have the best of the best but we need to be cautious when we are working on a budget. So we have four Elite tips to help you build up your gear without emptying your Bank Account.

Elite Tip One: Know What You Need

It is easy to start just hitting the buy button, however, before you do it is important to know what you need. You will need different sets of gear for different Heroes and different sets of gear for different functions. Also, remember that our heroes are selfish and do not share equipment. So if you have the gear equipped on one Hero then you cannot equip it on another Hero until you remove it from the first one. That means if you want to run to infantry heroes then you must have two different sets of Conqueror or two sets of Slaughter depending on what set you are using.

Pick the Right Gear for the Right Function

It is easy to start just hitting the buy button, however, before you do it is important to know what you need. PvP

When it comes to PvP as an attacker the gear choices are a little easier. However, one question that has long been asked is what is the best gear for Defense. In our article, Conversations with Stitch, we were able to cover the defensive side of the game more and this question. Part of choosing your gear as a defensive player is going to be responsive to your attacker. The other part is going to be how you chose to build your stats. Economic Functions

When it comes to economic functions picking your gear is going to be as simple as knowing what gear is needed for what. We covered Economic Gear in our article Gear up to Build up and the different functions available and what various sets are available for what. The great thing about Economic Gear is that it is going to give you the chance to save even more money when used appropriately.

Elite Tip Two: Know Where to Obtain Mats

Knowing where to obtain mats is a key component to being able to build your gear up on a budget. You can always go the pack buying route (which we will cover in a later tip), however, when on a budget the smartest route is to earn your mats from in-game rewards. It will take you longer but remember our objective here is to keep your wallet fat and your gear on point. Many of our articles listed above will tell you where you can get gear chests for each type of gear, however, we are going to quickly cover in general where you can obtain these chests as well.

  • Monsters - Monsters are the easiest and most obvious place to obtain your mats. You can turn on the auto hunt and let your Heroes have some fun chasing down monsters while you sit and watch your favorite TV show or in my case, sit and write this article.
  • War Coin Shop - The War Coin Shop is another place that you can purchase mats. The nice thing here is that you are choosing the mat you are purchasing and often what is provided here are those mats that tend to be a little more difficult to come by.
  • Rewards Chests from Events - Many times your Rewards chests from events when you open them will have a plethora of items. This also at times will include gear chests.
  • Events - Those lovely hourly events are going to give different gear chests as well so do not miss out on your Solo and inferno events.
  • Various Game Modes - Various Game modes such as Town Mode and Dimensional Battle’s will give different gear, so do not miss out on doing these because often there is some free gear involved.
  • Golden Moon - Go to the moon and hold a sanctuary. Rewards chests from this will also give gear mats. This is another game mode where you can go and hold your sanctuary and walk away. However, do be sure to check back in occasionally to make sure someone did not knock you out while you were away.

Elite Tip Three: Know What Packs to Buy for Gear

For those of you who are not trying to build up your gear without spending a dime then packs will come into play. However, there are a lot of packs out there that contain gear mats and knowing which ones to purchase can at times feel overwhelming. You want the ability to get the most bang for your buck. As the game has progressed over time we have seen our gear choices expand, however, we have also seen our pack choices for gear expand.

Gear Packs

When we are looking at Gear packs we will see packs that are offered anywhere from 4.99 USD to 99.99 USD. We have some key tips and questions you can ask yourself to help you when looking at these packs and knowing what to buy.

  1. Does the pack have a good quantity for the price? For example, a 100 dollar Outcry pack will come with one piece of legendary gear and 150 Gear Chests. If we compare this to a 5 dollar outcry pack we will get 15 chests a day at 5 dollars which means that over 7 days we will have 105 chests. This means that in two weeks if you are collecting your gifts daily you will have gotten 210 chests. While you may not receive as much instant gratification over time you may save more money buying the 5 dollar packs. I will mention that the 7-day daily gift packs do not include the one piece of already crafted gear, has less gold, and no silver. So these are components you will want to weigh as well. For me I can grind to make up for the money I am saving, however, not everyone wants to or can invest time into the grind.
  2. Watch for Sale Packs - usually, Rise of First Born will have some great sale packs. Keep an eye out for these because a lot of times they will include gear chests as well. These are often well worth their value. However, always compare and contrast and do not be afraid to reach out to our team to ask for additional advice.

Ultimately part of your decision when it comes to gear and purchasing is going to be how much you have to spend and whether or not you are looking for instant gratification. If you are willing to and can invest the time in building up your gear through grinding then you are going to be able to build up gear for less over time.

Elite Tip Four: Know When and How to Craft

Crafting is another thing we need to consider. Knowing when to craft is just as important as knowing how to craft. Watch for the days when we have craft buffs. This will save you on speed-ups that you can then invest in things such as research or construction. Knowing how to craft is more than just knowing how to go into your forge and combine but knowing what type of player you are when it comes to crafting and whether you are willing to take risks or not.

Quick How to Craft to Save Guide

  1. Ensure that you have a hero equipped to your Master Craftsman Aristocrat slot (especially if you’re the type that unequips heroes to hunt with).
  2. Ensure that, that particular Hero has the Crafting Trait attached to it.
  3. Ensure that particular Hero also has the Crafting Pet attached to it
  4. Remember!! There is research that helps with crafting speed and costs as well
  5. If you have the Ironsmith Gear set be sure that your Master Craftsman is wearing that gear.
  6. Decide what type of crafter you are and how that will impact you.
    1. The Risk Taker: These players are willing to try to craft a legendary piece of gear with less than stellar mats. They may toss a green or blue piece in but they are going for the gold. Be willing to get some less than stellar outcomes and upgrade if you need to when you are this type of crafter.
    2. The Conservative: This player is going to wait until they are 100% sure of the outcome of their gear which means crafting with all gold mats.
    3. The In-Between: These players are going to take minimal risks. This means that they may craft with a couple of level 6 mats and toss in a purple as well. They may or may not have good outcomes and may need to be prepared to upgrade as well.

While Gear can be expensive if you are willing to put in the time and effort you can save money and keep enjoying the game without emptying your wallet. Follow the simple tips above and you have a great start to keeping your wallet heavy and your gear on point.
