Alliance Wars have continued to be a popular feature in Iron Throne. With the frequency of these events, we wanted to take some time to look at Alliance Wars again and discuss some of the most recent changes. These changes impact a lot of your gameplay when it comes to Alliance Wars and it will be important that you are aware of them. We have a video from Princess Kat for you discussing an Alliance War Overview. This video was first released when Alliance Wars was still in Beta so be aware that things have changed since this time.

Alliance War Overview

Let’s talk about Alliance Wars from Start to finish!

How do I participate in Alliance Wars?

The most important question of course is, how do I participate in Alliance Wars. Well first, you must, of course, be a member of an Alliance. Once you are a member of an Alliance your Alliance must meet a few requirements.

Alliance Requirements:

  • You must have an Alliance Sanctuary and in order to have an Alliance Sanctuary, you must have an Alliance Castle.
  • You must have at the very least ten members in your alliance, this means that if you have 9 members you better start recruiting
  • You must be in a Kingdom that is not under protection

Does your Alliance meet all the requirements? If not, then get out there and start building your membership and your Alliance Buildings. If your Alliance does meet all the requirements then, proceed forward.

Once your Alliance has met all the requirements to be able to participate you must have an R4 or R5 apply to participate in Alliance Wars. That means if you happen to be in an Alliance where all of your leadership has dropped off the face of the earth, maybe you should find a new Alliance.

R4’s and R5’s here is what you need to know to Apply for Alliance War

  1. To apply you will select the Alliance War in the Battlefield or Event Menu
  2. You will need to select a league for your Alliance to participate in. There are five different leagues and the cost and rewards for each league vary by rank. Select the league you want to participate in carefully.

  3. League 1 is going to be the toughest league to participate in. As you go up leagues your competitors will be more difficult and the cost will be more, however, you will see an increase in rewards as well. The trick is weighing the rewards versus the costs and where you believe your Alliance can best place based on your size and activity level.

Pro Tip: Once you have ported to their Kingdom check out the map! You will see a red spot indicating where their alliance sanctuary is!

Stealing Points on Day Two

"Alliances Stealing Points"

On Day two you are able to steal points by occupying your opponent’s Alliance Sanctuary. This is very similar to the sanctuaries on Golden Moon. Except instead of getting rewards every x number of minutes you are taking points from the alliance you are battling.

Every ten minutes you occupy their Sanctuary you will take Alliance War Points. The amount taken is dependent on the League you are in and the number of troops you have occupying their sanctuary and tier. You can see the changes to this in the section above.

What does this mean? This means that you want to occupy your enemy’s sanctuaries and keep them out of yours! Setting up teams in your alliance and time slots when people are able to “babysit” or control the sanctuary would be a great way to ensure that you are taking your opponent’s points and keeping your own.

Optimizing your time during Alliance Wars

There are a ton of ways to be sure that you are optimizing your time during Alliance Wars. We have created a list of things you can do to be sure that you are using your time wisely and for the benefit of your team.

  1. Create a schedule for players who are able to hold Sanctuaries or keep the opponents out of your sanctuary. You do not want to lose because no one is online and your opponents are able to occupy your sanctuary unchallenged. This is going to require a good amount of alliance organization.
  2. Gathering resources is great on Day 2 however, ensure that your members are only gathering on Alliance tiles so that they are not giving away easy points. Also do not forget to use your Gathering magic at the beginning of Day 2 and use a stone so you can use it twice before Alliance War ends. In addition, pay attention to your alliance tile and what you are gathering. Make sure it is set to the resource that will give you the biggest benefit.
  3. Watch the Solo and Inferno events going on during the day. You can easily get points for alliance wars and be gaining points towards those events at the same time which means you are getting more rewards because your points are counting towards multiple events.
  4. This is a great time to use things such as Auto Monster Hunt or Auto Chaotic Stronghold Hunt. You can use these items and be gaining points for your alliance even if you are not able to be 100% present.

Tracking your Progress

You are able to track your progress and the progress of your Alliance through the Alliance Wars panel in events. Within this, there are three tabs. The first tab is your points tab. This will list the current points of the three alliances and the ways you are able to obtain points.

"Alliances Points Tab"

The second tab is your detail status. This will show the alliance rankings again, however, it will also breakdown what points you have taken from your opponents and what points they have taken from you.

"Alliances Detail Status tab"

Finally, the third tab is the individual contribution. This will list the ranking of players participating and you can see how many points each player has. This is a great way to track who in your alliance is participating light a fire under people who are slacking! This will update every 10 minutes and you can track your own progress and how many more points you need in order to be able to hit the level of rewards you would like to achieve.
